Mionica School
Education
In this school, the old floor covering was an itison (carpet‑type material) from about the year 2000, laid over vinyl that dated from 1991.
The school is located on ground rich in underground water (near the spring of Vrujci), and the site has seen flood damage in the past.
Because of these conditions (water, flood risk, and old layers of flooring), a decision was made to remove the old coverings and also to install additional protection under the floor.
After preparing properly, the school installed a linoleum floor from the Veneto XF² collection (2.5 mm thick). This linoleum is noted for being 94% organic material, with a surface protection treatment (xf²) to enhance durability.
The design / pattern of the floor was chosen in collaboration with pupils and their teacher, including a “Burgundy” marble look in several shades of burgundy, plus two other patterns, with additional decorative elements (e.g. “hopscotch,” other motifs) to make the classroom atmosphere more lively.
